Security is often an overlooked issue. Below are some basic guidelines and rules.
- Office personnel: Your computer has access to sensitive district data. Under no circumstances will anyone other than authorized personnel be allowed to access your terminal.
- All Personnel: Only authorized personnel are to use Devine ISD computers. Family members are prohibited from using district PC's.
- Teachers: Yours is a special situation where students may work on your "business" machine. Please watch your machine carefully when students are using it.
- All Personnel: Your district password should not be shared. You may someday need to do confidential business via our network. If you feel your password has been compromised, please contact the Central Office so that we can change it.
- All Personnel: Devine ISD data is important to us all. Please report any possible security issues. All reports will be confidential.
Devine Independent School District software policy:
Devine ISD is committed to ensuring compliance for all software licensing agreements that have been installed on district computers. Devine ISD machines have been provided for both educational purposes and business use. Devine ISD expects these machines to be used in this manner and not for personal use. The vast majority of system crashes/lockups are caused by poorly written software. We have found the "free" downloads to be rather costly, causing more problems than they are worth.
- No software is to be loaded on any district owned machine without prior approval from the technology dept.
- If you need software to do your job, please send in a purchase order so that we may fill it.
- It is against Devine ISD policy to bring a CD from home and install it on a Devine ISD computer without prior approval. If unauthorized software is found on a machine, it will be removed without warning. This includes games and screen savers.
- It is against Devine ISD policy to download and install any software off the Internet without prior approval.
Devine Independent School District email policy:
Devine ISD supplies all its employees with an email account. This email account is for district use only. Many dangerous attachments arrive via email. Please use caution when using your Devine ISD email account. If an attachment arrives in your email box please scan it before opening. It is unacceptable to run an executable file that has arrived as an email attachment on a Devine ISD workstation. It is against Devine ISD policy to send jokes and pictures for personal use using district email.
