Good Morning Devine ISD Parents:

Wednesday morning Mr. Williams and I met for his exit interview, and he
left the district at that time. At the request of the Board of Trustees, I
have assumed the interim superintendency for Devine ISD, and I wanted to
write each of you to assure you that our goals and focus have not changed.
We will continue to focus on children and on student achievement as our
number one district goal. This community, DISD staff, and the Board of
Trustees were participants in the five-year Strategic Plan which we
developed in 2004. The areas of focus were: Exemplary Rating, Facilities
and Resource Needs, Meaningful Community and Parent Involvement, Positive
Collaborative School Climate, and Comprehensive Instructional Programs.
These areas will continue to be our district's focus and our priorities. 

I want to assure each of you that Devine ISD staff members are the key to
the success of Devine ISD and to the success of our students. Please know
that this professional group of teachers, support staff, and
administrators will continue to do our part to promote a positive school
environment for our students and for our community. Devine ISD has
dedicated itself to an improvement model over the past four years and that
model will help each child reach success. This is still our goal!

I will continue many of my duties in the area of curriculum and
instruction including campus and districtwide meetings while assuming the
superintendent's duties as well. To assist me with some of the TAKS Test
duties, I have secured the very capable assistance of Marsha Stroud, a
retired Devine ISD Administrator. 

I know that you as parents will continue to provide our students and our
staff your support in the next few months as we face state assessments.
Just remember, it is time for us all to move forward, to do what is best
for our students, and that will keep us focused on our mission: student
success!
