Devine ISD personnel department has been very busy this summer. It seems
teacher shortage and turnover is a common occurrence throughout Texas. A
new House Bill (HB 2657) is even authorizing the commissioner of education
to develop a pilot program to reduce teacher turnover rates. While Devine
ISD’s turnover rate is 13.8%, it still remains below the state average of
14.6%.  Although the district is saddened that some employees have
retired, have taken jobs outside of public education, or have decided to
take a job closer to their home, we have been fortunate to find and hire
many good employees with excellent recommendations.  We are also excited
to have some teachers returning to Devine and several are Devine High
School graduates.
