Dr. Keri James

Dr. Keri James
Secretary
Elected: 2018
Current Term Expires May 2021
District 5

Dr. Keri Crouch James was born and raised in Devine, and is a third generation Devine ISD alumnus graduating from Devine H.S. in 1986.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor as well as Master and Doctoral degrees from Texas Southern University, all in Education.  She is very grateful for the firm foundation the faculty and staff at Devine ISD provided.  This community has provided support and strength to her family throughout the years and she hopes to continue that tradition for current and future generations.

Dr. James is a former Middle School teacher and school administrator.  Her certifications in Texas include elementary education, 1-8th grade science, mid-management, supervisor and superintendent.  She is currently a Professor in the School of Education at Wayland Baptist University-San Antonio Campus.  The 2018-19 school year will mark the beginning of her 30th year in education.

Dr. James is a lifelong member of the Devine First Baptist Church where her mother, Carol Thompson Crouch, has played the organ every Sunday for the past 50 years.  She continues to sit on several church committees and teaches Sunday school.  Dr. James is married and has two sons attending DISD.

My father, the late Dr. Charles Crouch, sat on the school board, saying that the school and its associated activities were the heart of our community.  "Our families might go to different churches, eat at different restaurants and work at different jobs, but we all attend the same school".

Today there is still great pride and tradition in our students, staff and families.  As a board member I will strive to achieve a transparency in our deliberations and insure it is communicated to all of our stakeholders.
